ATLANTA (April 18, 2023) – As Make-A-Wish Georgia continues to meet the limitless imagination of wish kids throughout our state, we’re thrilled to announce a partnership with Skillshot Media and Ghost Gaming. With a growth in gaming wish requests, our partnership with these leaders in esports will ensure these wishes come to life for kids in our community when they need it the most. Skillshot Media founder, Todd Harris who has a passion for spreading the word of “Gaming for Good” has a track record of leveraging gaming to grant wishes and raise significant funds required to support the mission of Make-A-Wish Georgia.
“A wish can be a turning point in the treatment and recovery of children with critical illnesses, and a much-needed source of hope and joy for their entire family,” said Tim Earley, CEO of Make-A-Wish Georgia. “We are grateful for the relationship with Skillshot Media and welcome Ghost Gaming into our community of wish granters. Their support will help us continue to empower children to reclaim their childhood.”
According to the 2022 Wish Impact Study, a large majority of Make-A-Wish alumni, parents, and medical providers overwhelmingly agree that the wish experience contributes substantially to physical, mental, and emotional health. Furthermore, they agree that a wish is a necessary part of the medical treatment journey, with many medical professionals indicating that a wish increases a child's compliance with care and can improve a child’s chance for survival. The results add to the growing research demonstrating how wish-fulfillment can be essential to a child’s medical outcomes.
"I have seen firsthand the power of a wish to change lives, and the power of the gaming community to grant those wishes", said Todd Harris, CEO of Ghost Gaming and Skillshot Media. "We're excited to use our platform and engaged community of millions to amplify the amazing work of Make-A-Wish Georgia in delivering hope to young people and their families."
Make-A-Wish Georgia grants wishes for children with critical illnesses since the chapter’s founding in 1995. There is still a great need for support to grant the wishes that are waiting. To learn more and find out how to get involved, visit georgia.wish.org.
